Superfast Running Effect in Adobe After Effects 5.5 - A Tutorial
This is the full FX test that this technique was originally used for.
In a manner of speaking, you could almost consider this an extension to my Cloning Tutorial. Some of the basic principles illustrated here are covered in more depth there.
Before doing any shot like this (as with most shots), the most important thing is to plan it out first. You have to visualize what you want the effect look like and break it down from there. In this example I filmed myself doing a "superfast" run and return. The effect was originally supposed to be based on the crazy-fast movement in the Dune fight scenes. It ended up looking a lot sillier than that, but the same principle applies.
I've also made it a point to include the video clip, and the backdrop graphic used for this tutorial. That will save you the trouble of having to create your own.

I sincerely hope this is helpful to you!!
